Converting Auto Engines For Experimental Aircraft

Converting Auto Engines For Experimental Aircraft

By Richard Finch
ISBN 0-9661-4571-2

In it's fourth edition. (Second edition pictured.) This book helps eliminate the high cost of building your own aircraft.
The single most expensive part on an aircraft is a certified aircraft engine. It's also the most out of date part. FAA and Legal restrictions slow development in this field to a snails pace, while automotive technology has raced ahead. For example, the real reason for having a dual ignition system was not for safety, but because the engines couldn't function with a single set of spark plugs. (The plugs would foul in short order.)
For these reasons, and because some people don't like to stop building once they get to the firewall, auto engine conversions are becoming more and more popular. This book explains what it takes to do it yourself.
